Fenner Dunlop Americas Expands Service to the Mining Industry
Acquisitions Reinforce Commitment to be a Full Service Provider

To strengthen its already strong support to the Mining Industry, Fenner Dunlop Americas has expanded into the service realm through the
acquisition of King Energy Services, Conveyor Services Corporation, which includes Classic Conveyor Components, Loadout Services, Inc., Conveyor Services, SA (Chile,) and Solid Systems Engineering LLC. The acquisitions mark the formation of Fenner Dunlop’s newest division, Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Services, bringing the full-service element to Fenner Dunlop’s existing business of manufacturing conveyor belting.

The core business for Fenner Dunlop Americas has been conveyor belting and the products/services surrounding that business, such as splice materials. While heavy-duty rubber ply, straight-warp and steel cord conveyor belting very much remain key components to Fenner Dunlop’s plans to create value for its TCSD (Total Conveyor Solutions Distributors) and distributor network, offering customers total turn-key solutions to their belting and service needs further enhances Fenner Dunlop’s support to the Mining Industry.

Conveyor Services Corporation (CSC), based in Blairsville, PA, employs over 250 service technicians and operates eight full service facilities throughout the United States. CSC recently celebrated its twenty-second year servicing the mining and material handling industries. Fenner Dunlop acquired CSC’s sister companies Classic Conveyor Components, LoadOut Services, Inc, and a majority interest in Conveyor Services, SA, located in Chile where they heavily service the copper mining industry.

King Energy Services, based in Farmington, NM, and Denver, CO, will continue their tradition of offering full service support including splicing, mechanical support, welding, pulley lagging and conveyor system installations to the mining industry in Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico.

Solid Systems Engineering, based in Gillette, WY, has served the mountain states as an industrial distributor, conveyor belt service and mechanical service company focusing on the conveying and storage of bulk materials with emphasis on serving the mining industry. In recent times they expanded that offering to include shovel and dragline equipment service and mobile equipment maintenance.

Fenner Dunlop acquired these companies to further develop its strategy to create value by offering full service solutions to the material handling sector with a primary focus on the mining industry. Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Services, strategically located in major mining territories in the eastern and western United States, now offers a full spectrum of products and services, with each order customized to fit customers’ exact needs. Customers can now look to Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Services for any conveyor-related needs: conveyor belting, conveyor components, conveyor structures, installation, vulcanized splicing, system repairs, contract maintenance, transfer point technology, conveyor system design, belt scanning, coal transport and engineering services.

The acquisitions of CSC, Solid Systems Engineering and King Energy are part of a much larger picture. Fenner Dunlop has expanded its North American operations by investing $100 million in its Port Clinton, OH; Toledo, OH and Hart County, GA, facilities, confirming Fenner Dunlop’s standing commitment to invest in North America and the communities in which it operates.

The official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Port Clinton $40 million plant expansion took place on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. The monumental expansion now houses the latest high-tech equipment to manufacture 96” rubber-ply and steel cord conveyor belting. The new lines open tremendous opportunities for Fenner Dunlop and its customers in the Mining sector, addressing the growing needs to improve productivity more quickly, more efficiently and more cost effectively.

Fenner Dunlop’s new state-of-the-art, 300,000 square foot weaving facility will produce the fabric to manufacture the 96” fabric belt lines in Port Clinton, as well as supply finished and treated fabric to Fenner Dunlop’s other two heavy rubber belt manufacturing plants. The Toledo plant recently increased capacity by installing a double deck press for fabric belting.

Fenner Dunlop Americas is well on its way to achieving its goal to not only be the world’s leading supplier of conveyor belt, but to be the world’s leading supplier of total turnkey system services and solutions for the Mining Industry. Strategically located near its customer base, Fenner Dunlop is uniquely positioned to take a hands-on approach, to listen to the issues and to provide real solutions, always keeping safety as the major focus in the work place today.
