New SilentPartner® Belt
Reduced Noise Level is Music to the Ears
Charlotte, NC/September 26, 2005—Fenner Dunlop Lightweight Conveyor Belting (FDLW) announced today the introduction of their new low noise conveyor belt product, SilentPartner®. This is the first of several new product introductions planned for the second half of 2005 and 2006.
SilentPartner® is the latest addition to FDLW’s lightweight PVC conveyor belting line. “We are excited about our ability to supply airport baggage, parcel/package handling and distribution center facilities with a low noise belt that will promote a more comfortable and safer working environment,” stated David Schempp, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for FDLW. “Not only does the product’s friction surface operate at 20dB lower than standard solid-woven belts, but it also provides low stretch, has excellent fastener holding strength, and has higher resistance to impact, cutting and edge wear than any competitive product on the market.”
The low noise belt is manufactured using an innovative needled fabric construction, which greatly reduces noise emission levels, producing less than 70dB running at 500 feet per minute. The balanced polyester carcass, made from S and Z warp yarns, provides exceptional mechanical fastener retention, low stretch and no ply separation. SilentPartner®’s light, flexible design easily handles small pulleys, lowering energy consumption. Each belt is made with ASTM 378 or ISO 340 flame-retardant covers, promoting a safe conveying environment.
Schempp maintains that there is a noticeable difference in noise level emissions when running SilentPartner®. “The unique design characteristics of SilentPartner® set it apart from standard solid woven and rubber RFL treated friction surfaces. Controlled noise level tests performed by FDLW on a Decibel Meter installed over a slider bed clearly showed SilentPartner® consistently registering at 68dB, which is similar to going from a busy street into the average home. SilentPartner® truly lives up to its name”, said Schempp.
SilentPartner® was developed for airport baggage handling, distribution centers, package & parcel handling, metals processing, unit handling, furniture manufacturing and wood products. SilentPartner® is currently offered in four constructions for a full range of conveying applications. |
